"Remparts player gets major and game misconduct for this glass-shattering hit on Rimouski player"

Timing- 4/4

This is a news story on a very dirty hit that was made by a QMJHL player.  The hit occurred on October 15th, 2017 so, the timing of it is quite recent.  I gave it a 4/4 on timing because the article is extremely current and was uploaded to Bardown.com basically right after the game.

Significance- 2/4

This story does not really have an effect on a wide group of people.  I only gave it a significance of 2/4 because the only people who would have been affected by this story would be Rimouski Oceanic fans, Quebec Remparts fans, the family members or friends of the Remparts player who hit the Rimouski player and family or friends of the Rimouski player who was hit.

Proximity- 3/4

This event occurred in Quebec which is close enough to home.  It hits much closer to home because the players were QMJHL players which that league includes the maritime provinces.  This hit could have occurred in an area as close as Bathurst so, the proximity is quite close.  I gave it a 3/4 rating because, the QMJHL is a hockey league that friends of mine play in and the games take place extremely close to home, such as Bathurst, Moncton, and Saint John.  The province of Quebec in only some odd hours drive away.

Prominence- 2.5/4

The stories prominence is questionable.  Depending on the person reading, would answer how important/famous the person is or seems to be.  I gave it a 2.5/4 rating because to fans and family/friends of the Rimouski Oceanic and Quebec Remparts players, they would be almost famous.  These players have achieved excellence in the sport of hockey and made it big being named to a QMJHL roster.  They're just one step away from the NHL and would most definitely be hometown famous.  Both players involved were not top prospects so, their worldwide prominence would not be that great.

Human Interest- 3/4

This is an extremely wild event.  It was a crazy hit and provokes a lot of emotion from a lot of people.  The article would mainly only appeal to hockey fans usually but, this hit was so wild, that it would also draw attention from many others.  I gave it a 3/4 rating because it would get a strong amount of emotion out of anyone who saw this glass shattering hit but, a number of people who will take the initiative to read the article would be limited.

"Jamie Benn keeps promise he made to young car crash survivor before game against Avalanche"

Timing- 4/4

This article is about a promise that Jamie Benn kept to a young fan.  He made the promise to her Saturday, October 14th, before his game versus the Colorado Avalanche.  He promised to score her a goal and he kept that promise.  I gave it a 4/4 on timing because the event is extremely recent.  It only occurred this past weekend and will become known to many people in the weeks to come.

Significance- 2.5/4

This story is very touching.  It would reach out to not only the fans of the Dallas Stars or Jamie Benn himself but also, just basic NHL and hockey fans.  It might also hold a place in the hearts of car crash survivors as the hockey star kept his promise to the young girl.  I gave it a 2.5/4 rating because the story would mean a lot to hockey fans and some other people but, that would be its extent.

Proximity- 2.5/4

This event occurred in Dallas, Texas.  It is not extremely close to Canada and the province of New Brunswick but, it is still on the same continent.  I gave it a 2.5/4 on proximity because, the event did not take place close by but, to many hockey fans the event would appear closer to them then it really was.

Prominence- 3/4

NHL star Jamie Benn is the star of this article.  He is the Captain of the Dallas Stars and is well known around the hockey world.  I gave the prominence a 3/4 because Jamie Benn is quite famous because of his hockey skill.  He is known and is important to many people, especially hockey fans.  Jamie Benn is known worldwide, especially within North America, Europe, and Russia.

Human Interest- 3/4

This story would appeal to many hockey fans.  It would grasp their attention and leave their heart feeling a bit warmer.  It draws a good amount of emotions out of hockey fans but also out of anyone would give the article a read.  Its human interest rate is 3/4 because anyone who has a heart would most likely feel some emotion and happiness towards Benn keeping his promise.
